I was dismayed to hear that the term 'Essex Girls' is no longer permitted in the Oxford English Dictionary. According to the Essex Girl's Liberation Front (or is it the Liberation Front of Essex Girl's?)
Essex Girls are an admirable bunch, with many successful women amongst them. Sarah Perry who has just written the marvellous 'Essex Girls' surely agrees. Some of us might be loud and opinionated but hey, what's wrong with that? There will be just as many who are quiet and reserved.
If I am a girl and I am born in Essex, what else can you call me?!
Soon, we'll be having the term Yorkshire Lass villified.
